Elon Musk, a tech entrepreneur, has been named by US President-elect Donald Trump to work in the Department of Government Efficiency.
Alongside Musk, Vivek Ramaswamy, an American patriot, will serve as the department’s leader.
Trump revealed this in a statement on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, which Musk shared early on Wednesday on his X Twitter.
Their nominations will assist his administration in “dismantling government bureaucracy, slashing excessive regulations, cutting wasteful expenditures, and reshaping federal agencies,” the Republican said. The department, known as DOGE, will collaborate with the White House and the Office of Management and Budget to “drive large-scale structural reform and create an entrepreneurial approach to government never seen before,” Trump, 78, who defeated Democrat Kamala Harris, the vice president, in the 2024 US presidential election, added.
“I am pleased to announce that the great Elon Musk will lead the Department of Government Efficiency (‘DOGE’) in collaboration with American patriot Vivek Ramaswamy,” the statement said. These two amazing Americans will work together to clear the path for my administration to reorganize federal agencies, reduce unnecessary spending, cut back on regulations, and eliminate government bureaucracy—all of which are critical to the “Save America” effort. The system will be rocked by this, and anyone working on government waste,“That’s a lot of people!” Mr. Musk said.It might end up becoming our generation’s “Manhattan Project.” The goals of “DOGE” have long been the stuff of Republican politicians’ dreams. The Department of Government Efficiency will collaborate with the White House and the Office of Management and Budget to implement extensive structural reform and establish a previously unheard-of entrepreneurial approach to government, as well as offer outside counsel and direction to promote this kind of significant change.
“I am confident they will succeed!” Musk, the owner of social media platform X, electric car manufacturer Tesla, and internet company Starlink, was outspoken in his support of the Trump-Vance presidential ticket in the most recent election and donated $75 million to the pro-Trump spending group. “I look forward to Elon and Vivek making changes to the federal bureaucracy with an eye toward efficiency and, at the same time, making life better for all Americans. Importantly, we will drive out the massive waste and fraud that exists throughout our annual $6.5 trillion of government spending.” Musk’s work will be completed by July 4, 2026.
