With criminalities inching higher in the country, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) reported that on Tuesday its operatives from Benin Zonal Command had arrested seven internet fraudsters and two other proprietors of ‘yahoo school’ in Benin City of Edo State.
This was disclosed in a statement issued to the press on Thursday, with the crime-fighting body noting that two of the arrested suspects operate a facility known as Internet Fraud Coaching Centre (a.k.a HK) in Benin City.
Owners of the Yahoo school who were identified as Osagie Ogiemwonyi and Onukwugho Favour and seven of their “students” have been arrested at their centres following actionable intelligence worked upon by EFCC.
The crime-fighting body named Destiny Ohikwugbe, Chata Okoro, Ighodaro Omede, Ehigie Idemudia, Lawrence Daniel, Raymond Ogiemwonyi Oghosa and Henry Philip as the seven other suspects.
Mercedes Benz GLK, Lexus 350, phones and laptops are some of the items recovered by the Commission from the suspects.
