The ongoing APC Convention which is taking place at Eagle Square Abuja is set to elect its presidential candidate for 2023 General elections
The All Progressives Congress (APC) convention which started yesterday, 6th June and will be over by 8th June with the party electing its sole candidate for the 2023 general elections.
Although, it was originally scheduled for May 29 and 30 but is was postponed due to INEC’s extension of the deadline for political parties to elect their candidates for the general elections from June 3 to June 9.
APC is set to have a total of 2,322 ad-hoc delegates which will be drawn from the 36 states of the country and in the FCT who will conduct the primary election inorder to elect the party’s flag bearer ahead of the 2023 general election.
Among the 23 aspirants are Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, former Science and Technology Minister, Ogbonnaya Onu, former Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba and former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio.
Here is also a list of current governors: Yahaya Bello (Kogi), Dave Umahi (Ebonyi), Abubakar Badaru (Jigawa), Ben Ayade (Cross River) and Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti).
Making the list of aspirants are: former Lagos State governor, Bola Tinubu, former Ogun State governor and serving senator, Ibikunle Amosun, former Zamfara governor, Ahmad Sani, former Imo State governor and serving senator, Rochas Okorocha.
There are also the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, a former Senate President, Ken Nnamani, a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole.
Tunde Bakare, Felix Nicholas and former Minister of Information Ikeobasi Mokelu, a businessman, Tein Jack-Rich, and the only female among them, Uju Ken-Ohanenye are also among the 23 presidential aspirants cleared for the APC presidential primaries.
All the 23 aspirants have been screened and cleared by the seven-member committee which is led by John Odigie-Oyegun.
