The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced its guidelines and timeline for the accreditation of Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
This directive emphasizes the critical role of the Autobot/Autotest phase, which all centres must complete successfully by December 1, 2024, to qualify for further physical inspections.
JAMB Highlights Accreditation Criteria
JAMB’s accreditation exercise for the 2025 UTME is already underway. The board has mandated that both new and previously registered CBT centres conduct their Autobot/Autotest between November 25 and December 1, 2024. This phase is non-negotiable, as only centres that meet JAMB’s technical and infrastructural requirements during this period will proceed to the next stage.
According to JAMB, the physical verification phase for eligible centres will occur in December 2024. In its latest bulletin, JAMB stressed, “This notice is directed at both new and previously registered centres, which are urged to take immediate action.” The board has further clarified that centres failing to meet the criteria within the specified timeframe will not be reconsidered.
To ensure a streamlined process, JAMB has outlined specific steps for new and existing centres:
- New Centres: They are required to formally notify JAMB of their intent to participate in the accreditation process. Applications must be directed to Professor Ishaq Oloyede, JAMB’s Registrar, through the zonal or state coordinator. This will enable the centres to establish accounts on JAMB’s Centre Management System (CMS) portal, a prerequisite for registration.
- Existing Centres: Already accredited centres must log into the CMS portal to express their interest formally.
The board emphasized the importance of adhering to its detailed CBT centre requirements, which include infrastructure, technical systems, and operational standards.
Ensuring a Smooth UTME 2025 Process
JAMB’s commitment to the integrity of the UTME is evident through these measures. Centres must complete all pre-accreditation activities to maintain the credibility and functionality of the exam. The board noted, “Only centres that meet the outlined requirements will be approved and listed by the Board for the 2025 registration and UTME.”
This rigorous approach ensures that the 2025 UTME will uphold JAMB’s standards for fairness and transparency in the admission process.
For further information, CBT centre owners are encouraged to review the detailed requirements available on JAMB’s official platforms. As JAMB has underscored, prompt compliance will be pivotal for all centres aiming to support the smooth conduct of the 2025 UTME.
