WhatsApp Secret Code Feature for Locked Chats on iOS and Android, As a result, you may shield your confidential communications with other users from prying eyes whether you lend your phone to a friend or in case it becomes lost.
A new Secret Code feature for locked chats is being rolled out by WhatsApp. You may now conceal your locked chats behind a secret code thanks to an extension of the Chat Lock functionality that was first introduced by the firm this year.
Consequently, you can hide your private interactions with other users from prying eyes when you hand up your phone to a friend or in the event that it is misplaced. As an alternative, you can keep using the passcode or PIN on your phone, as well as facial or fingerprint recognition, to secure your chats.

The launch of the new Secret Code for Chat Lock function, which enables you to choose a chat and secure it with a password or phrase, was announced by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Thursday. Adding a further layer of security to the messaging platform, chats concealed behind a secret code are inaccessible from the main chat list and can only be accessed by entering the code.
Using an Android smartphone app in beta, Gadgets 360 was able to test this feature. Once the list of locked chats is displayed, select Chat lock settings > toggle using the three-dot menu at the top. Your locked chats will no longer be visible in the main chat window if you hide them and input an easily remembered secret code. At the moment, WhatsApp displays a shortcut for locked chats when scrolling down on the chat screen; you may access them by using your fingerprint or Face ID.

Once you’ve set up a secret code, the only method to access your protected conversations on WhatsApp is to type the same secret code into the app’s search bar. This will display Chat Lock-protected discussions, but only until you close the application.
You can go back to the original Chat Lock feature if you don’t need to hide the existence of your WhatsApp chats. To do this, open the list of locked chats using your secret code, then tap the three-dot menu > Chat lock settings > toggle Hide locked chats off to turn off the Secret Code feature.
Moreover, WhatsApp claims that you can lock a chat by just long pressing on it, eliminating the need to access specific chat settings. Although consumers have started to receive the secret code functionality, it will go worldwide in the upcoming months. When or if WhatsApp will add the secret code feature to WhatsApp for Desktop is unknown.
