Roma midfielder, Georginio Wijnaldum injured his right leg during the training session on Sunday, just two weeks after joining the Italian Serie A club.
The ex-Liverpool midfielder joined the Italian champions after a season-long loan from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
Wijnaldum made his Serie A debut off the bench in Roma’s 1-0 victory over Salernitana on the opening weekend, but he is now set for a return to the sidelines with his recent injury.
In a statement by the club, Roma said, “Following an injury sustained during training this afternoon, Georginio Wijnaldum subsequently underwent medical tests that confirmed the presence of a fracture to the tibia in his right leg. The player will undergo further assessments in the coming days.”
Roma is set for their outing at home to Cremonese on Monday just before flying to Turin to play Juventus.
There are little hopes that the Netherland International can recover from his injury in time to feature for the Netherlands at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, which begins in November.
