THE Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike is back to the country after a three-day trip to Madrid, the capital of Spain, with Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, Samuel Ortom of Benue and Seyi Makinde of Oyo State.
To continue from where he stopped, Wike launched a fresh banter at Senator Iyorchia Ayu, the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), while noting that Ayu’s attempts to deny the allegations labeled against him (Ayu) were baseless, daring him to give an account of how he spent the money which was allegedly given to him.
In his words, Wike said: “Let Ayu say he did not collect N1 billion. In fact, let me also tell you, Ayu collected N100 million naira from a governor that he was going to renovate our democratic institute and then he (Ayu) went back to the PDP NWC and took N100 million naira for doing the same work.”
“What kind of system is that? I am telling you all these are facts. Let him (Ayu) say no first and I will tell you (those he collected money from),” the Rivers governor added.
Additionally, Governor Wike also spoke in light of the chaos-causing comments made by the presidential candidate of PDP, Atiku Abubakar in Kaduna.
Atiku had on Saturday spoke at an event organized by the Arewa Joint Committee, where he said: “I think what an average northerner needs, is somebody who is from the north, who also understands the other parts of Nigeria, and who has been able to build bridges across the rest of the country. This is what the northerner needs. He (the northerner) doesn’t need a Yoruba or an Igbo candidate. This is what the northerner needs. I stand before you as a pan-Nigerian of northern origin.”
Wike in response called on the party’s flagbearer to tender an apology to Nigerians for the controversial comments.
